Restoring civic pride

With our partners and through community consultation, we created a civic and community hub fit for the 21st Century. We preserved and enhanced the building’s heritage and original features, whilst updating its purpose to be distinctly modern. It’s now home to a flexible co-working hub, event spaces and community rooms.

Solving problems through space

‘Your New Town Hall’ has rationalised the council’s core office buildings from 14 to two, saving the local authority least £4.5m a year, and freeing up vital space for other community uses. We’ve rejuvenated historic buildings, as well as creating a brand new civic and community hub, plus hundreds of new homes.

Accessible, flexible, sustainable

The town hall is now an accessible and attractive community asset, with a new public courtyard and registry office hosting weddings and events, a refurbished council chamber at the heart of local democracy and a flexible workspace for start-ups and small businesses.

Quality is the core of sustainable regeneration

Lambeth Town Hall had to be exemplar. It had stood at the centre of the community for over a hundred years, and we wanted it to stand for at least a hundred more.
