Oldham Town Centre is set to undergo a bold transformation, and from today, the community has the chance to play a key role in shaping its future.

The community conversation for the ambitious Oldham Town Living regeneration programme is now live, inviting residents, businesses, and stakeholders to share their thoughts and ideas on the exciting plans ahead.

Running until Friday, 7th March 2025, this consultation focuses on six pivotal sites: Prince’s Gate, the Former Magistrate’s Court, the Former Manchester Chambers, the Former Leisure Centre, the Civic Centre, and the Civic Tower.

These proposals promise to bring vibrant new homes, dynamic public spaces, and thriving commercial opportunities to the heart of Oldham, creating a town centre everyone can be proud of.

This conversation follows an extensive period of planning and engagement last year. In summer 2024, Muse and Oldham Council held a seven-week community conversation on the Oldham Town Living Development Framework, which was endorsed by Oldham Council’s Cabinet in November 2024.

This framework provides the strategic vision for up to 2,000 new homes, unlocking nearly 10 hectares of Council-owned land to support the town’s regeneration.

Alex Vogel, Senior Development Manager at Muse, added:

Through our partnership with Oldham Council, we’re committed to delivering a transformational programme that meets the needs of local people. This consultation is an important opportunity for the community to provide feedback and ensure the proposals reflect their aspirations. We’re extremely excited to be bringing all Oldhamers on this journey with us and we encourage everyone to have their say.”

Public engagement will take place both online and in-person, with opportunities to ask questions and provide feedback directly to the project team.

Key events include:

– A live online webinar on Monday 3rd March at 6pm, where the project team will present the proposals and answer questions.

– An in-person drop-in event on Wednesday 5th March from 12pm to 5pm at Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre, where residents can view plans and speak to members of the project team.

People can also provide feedback online through an interactive feedback form available at OldhamTownLiving.co.uk

Following the consultation, all six planning applications are expected to be submitted by the end of March 2025.

We strongly encourage everyone to take part and share their views. This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of Oldham Town Centre – don’t miss the chance to have your say.
