Where

Our regional teams are based in Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds and London. This role is based in our Manchester office at Riverside House, Salford M3 5EN, in the heart of our New Bailey development.

The Role

The Management Accountant will be a key member of a small team delivering commercial finance and business partnering to our Development and Project Management teams and senior management, as well as to our joint ventures. The role will report into the Finance Business Partner for the North West, the largest of our four regional businesses.

Working closely with the Finance Business Partner and the development & project teams, the role will be responsible for preparing management accounts and forecasts to support decision making and delivery of our pipeline, as well as contributing to our group and statutory reporting.

Over time, the role will give the successful candidate a wide-ranging exposure to the commercial and financial aspects of property development, especially complex multi-phase mixed-use schemes, in a supportive, ambitious and empowered culture.

The finance team are in a period of change, embedding a new regionalised finance structure, and implementing new systems for forecasting and budgeting (Anaplan) and this role will play a key part in progressing these initiatives.

The role will be primarily based in Muse’s Salford office, in the heart of one of our largest and most successful regeneration projects to date. This is the base for Muse’s North West regional business and the main office for the majority of our finance team.

Occasional travel may be required to other offices in London, Leeds and Birmingham and occasional site visits are encouraged.

Main responsibilities

Working closely with and supported by the Finance Business Partner:

• Facilitate in the preparation of monthly scheme review papers, working closely with the Development Management and Project Management team.

• Prepare annual budgets and forecasts

• Upload forecast information into a newly implemented system, Anaplan

• Prepare management and financial information to facilitate our reporting to our parent Group

• Prepare detailed cash flow forecasts for our projects and reconcile actuals to our accounting system

• Facilitate in the preparation of annual statutory accounts and the external audit process

• Adhere to the strict contractual deadlines for providing financial information to partners

• Oversee monthly loan drawdowns and ensure that joint ventures are using cash efficiently

• Support other members of the team to ensure they are delivering work to the required standard and in a timely manner

Key competencies

• A qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA), preferably with at least 2 years industry experience

• Able to communicate well and embed themselves as one of the team within the NW

• Willing and able to take responsibility for delivering the finance services to clients to a high standard

• Have strong attention to detail and format work in a concise and clear way

• Able to communicate financial information effectively through written reports and in board meetings

• Able to manage own time effectively to deliver work to the required standard and to deadlines when working under time pressure

• Must be proficient and confident in using Microsoft Excel

• Be a cohesive team player that can develop strong relationships with multiple stakeholders
