Moving mountains

We didn’t quite move mountains, but we did move two rivers and a roundabout.

Where most people saw a congested roundabout, we saw an opportunity – a new heart for the town centre, a place to stay and play in Lewisham.

We’ve worked closely with the London Borough of Lewisham, Homes England, the Mayor of London, Transport for London, the local community, Get Living, and Balfour Beatty our construction partner amongst many others to make our vision at Lewisham a reality.

Timeline

2006

Time to put pen to paper

The development agreement was signed with the public sector consortium and an outline planning application was submitted.

2009

Planning success!

The outline planning permission was granted in 2009 which meant we were able to progress activity on site.

2013

Major achievements at Lewisham

Several key milestones are achieved in 2013 with the funding agreement completed, detailed planning permission for the first phase obtained, and a new bus layover created.

2014

We moved two rivers and a round about

After improving the local infrastructure, phase 1a started on site May 2014.

2016

Let the build commence

In early September of 2016 Phase 1b saw the commencement of works on site.

2020

All things are go on phase 2

In 2020 we started on site with Phase 2, securing the council funding and housing infrastructure fund.

2024

Completion celebration

In summer 2024, we anticipate completing Lewisham Gateway.
