A significant milestone in the transformation of Stroudley Walk, Bromley-by-Bow, has been achieved with construction reaching its highest point.

Along with our partners and Poplar HARCA and contractors McAleer and Rushe, we hosted a ceremonial ‘topping out’ event to celebrate this key moment.

London Deputy Mayor for Housing Tom Copley joined with more than 50 local stakeholders and project partners to recognise the collaborative effort made so far. Stroudley Walk is set to deliver 274 much-needed homes, including 115 affordable, for Tower Hamlets residents.

The Deputy Mayor for Housing and Residential Development, Tom Copley, said:

“I’m delighted that Stroudley Walk has reached this key milestone and is making huge progress towards delivering 274 new, high-quality homes in Tower Hamlets, with a significant number of these set to be genuinely affordable.

“Backed by funding from the Mayor of London, this development supports our mission to deliver the genuinely affordable homes that Londoners need and deserve, helping communities to thrive.

The new and improved green spaces and retail and community facilities at Stroudley Walk will play a vital part in transforming the local area, creating a better, greener London for everyone.”

Beyond housing, the Stroudley Walk development will rejuvenate the area with a new park, community café, shops, and other community-focused facilities. These amenities are part of a vision to make Stroudley Walk a hub for living, gathering, and thriving in east London.

During the event, guests toured the site to view progress firsthand, with speeches highlighting the strength of the partnership work driving this project.

Tom Jackson, Senior Development Manager, said:

We are delighted to see Stroudley Walk reach this key milestone of topping out. Projects like this are only achievable through the strength of partnerships.

The dedication and hard work of Poplar HARCA, the Greater London Authority, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, and McAleer & Rushe have been vital in delivering new homes, including 50% affordable, which will make a lasting difference for the local community."”

The construction milestone was capped with ceremonial concrete dig at the site’s highest point, symbolising the collaboration and progress achieved thus far.

Paul Brickell, Chair of Poplar HARCA board remarked:

“It has been a long road, and we have overcome many challenges to start work on this site, so It’s wonderful to take this opportunity to celebrate how far the development has come.

“This milestone reflects our commitment to creating affordable homes and opportunities for Tower Hamlets residents. We are proud to see our shared vision taking shape.”

Aidan McCarron, Project Director at McAleer and Rushe commented:

“We are delighted to be celebrating the topping out of Stroudley Walk, a key construction milestone in the delivery of an outstanding mixed-use scheme. As we work to provide much-needed, affordable homes to Bromley-by-Bow, we are committed to continuing our efforts to building relationships locally and positively impacting the community.

It’s a proud moment to reflect on how far this project has progressed from vision to reality, and we look forward to seeing through its safe and successful completion.”

This development has been made possible funding and support from the Greater London Authority.
