Transforming Birkenhead town centre

We’re creating real change in Birkenhead town centre through an innovative and ambitious masterplan. Phase one is underway with 150,000 sq ft of workspace and phase two will deliver a vibrant new market hall for Birkenhead. The project is being delivered by Wirral Growth Company – our joint venture with Wirral Council.

 

A highly accessible business district for Birkenhead

The first phase will centre around the delivery of the Birkenhead town centre masterplan. We’re planning an innovative, highly accessible central business district with new energy-efficient office buildings and high-quality outdoor spaces and green landscaping. Wirral Council is looking to occupy the new office space as part of its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and rationalising its estate.

A new market hall and leisure facilities

Our future plans at Wirral Growth Company include a new market that will blend a vibrant food and beverage hall and a traditional local market. We want to bring a new daytime and evening economy not seen before to the town, to benefit the Wirral community and kick start the wider regeneration of the Leftbank urban development area.
