Muse 40: "What placemaking means to me"

As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, we asked some of our newest team members what placemaking means to them.

Over the past 40 years our people have been instrumental in the places we’ve created – their hard work, skill, and vision have made things happen.

“Placemaking is creating safe, accessible and vibrant neighbourhoods that work like nature’s ecosystems. Somewhere where communities can live, shop, work and socialise without having to go further afield and most importantly, somewhere that the community feels pride in and can make lasting memories for generations to come.”

Cate Howe, Senior Project Manager – Midlands

“Placemaking to me is all about creating a destination. It’s a process that brings life back to an area and builds a place where people can live, work and relax in a newly developed bespoke setting.”

“True placemaking is about the unique elements that turn a space into a meaningful place. These are often intangible, not easily measured by monetary value, but crucial to the success of the place itself. It’s the details that bring a place to life, they’re truly invaluable.”

Raife Gale, Senior Development Manager – Yorkshire & North East
