Muse and Grainger give 'Flora' the Owl a permanent home at Hale Wharf

In partnership with Grainger PLC, we’re delighted to announce our joint purchase of ‘Flora,’ a beloved giant owl statue who has taken up her permanent residence at our Hale Wharf neighbourhood in Tottenham.

Hale Wharf, once a forgotten waterside area in Tottenham, has been transformed by Waterside Places – our strategic partnership with the Canal & River trust – working with the Mayor of London and London Borough of Haringey. Together, we have delivered hundreds of new homes, including much-needed affordable housing, while opening up new public spaces and scenic walking routes for the local community. Hale Wharf is now a desirable waterside neighbourhood, connecting residents and visitors to the surrounding waterways and green spaces.

Flora, an avian art installation, was part of The Big Fun Art Adventure, an initiative launched by North London Hospice and Wild in Art. This project introduced a free sculpture trail to North London over the summer of 2024, offering families and individuals the chance to explore and enjoy a series of striking art installations across the area.

Flora quickly became a favourite of the local community and when we learned that Flora might leave North London at the end of the summer sculpture trail, we knew something had to be done. That’s why we have joined forces with Grainger PLC to ensure Flora remains a permanent part of the neighbourhood. Grainger is a leading UK landlord with a strong focus on community, who own and operate the Windlass Apartments development at Hale Wharf.

Through our joint purchase, all proceeds will be donated to North London Hospice, supporting their incredible work in providing care for those facing life-limiting illnesses. Flora will now have her forever home at Hale Wharf, where she will continue to inspire and delight residents and visitors for years to come.

We’re proud to support this meaningful cause while reinforcing our commitment to creating lasting, sustainable communities.
