Local schoolchildren help plant the seeds of a greener community at WestonM6

We welcomed pupils from a local primary school’s Eco Club and Eco Ambassadors to WestonM6 on Wednesday 21 October to take part in a hands-on bulb-planting activity.
Thirteen children from a local primary school took part in bulb planting at WestonM6, gaining hands-on experience of landscaping while learning about the site’s history and the biodiversity being incorporated into the development. The activity gave pupils an opportunity to explore how the landscape is evolving and understand the role green spaces can play in supporting wildlife and creating places for people to enjoy in their local community.
The activity brought together pupils and members of the project team, including Muse, CW Architecture, Wrights Landscapes and Luddon. Working together, they helped lay the foundations for seasonal planting that will come into flower in Spring 2027.
The event reflects Muse’s approach to WestonM6, where landscaping and biodiversity are integral to the development from the outset, rather than being added once construction is complete. The 26-acre biodiversity habitat is being created alongside the wider project to provide space for nature to flourish, while a network of paths will offer opportunities for people, both local residents and employees, to enjoy the landscape.
By involving local pupils in the planting, we’ve also created an opportunity for children to engage directly with the landscape and play a direct part in its progress. As the bulbs grow and flower, their contribution will become part of the site’s evolving environment.
Sarah Chicken, Senior Development Manager, said:
“Landscaping and green space are integral to our approach at WestonM6, having been considered from the very beginning. Alongside creating space for nature, we want to ensure the local community can continue to enjoy and benefit from the green spaces around them. It was lovely to give the children a hands-on role in shaping this environment, and we look forward to seeing the bulbs come into flower in the months ahead.”
We’d would like to thank the School’s Eco Club and Eco Ambassadors, CW Studio, Luddon and Wrights Landscapes for taking part in the activity and helping bring the planting to life.
