Planning application submitted for North West Quadrant (NWQ), a major £640m town centre regeneration project in Slough town centre.

We are creating a lively new neighbourhood on the former Thames Valley University site. The 3.6-hectare space will bring around 1,500 new homes, a landmark office building, and 3,000 sqm of shops and cafes. We’re adding a nursery for 100 children, a major community events space, and plenty of green areas with places to play. People will enjoy better walking and cycling routes across the neighbourhood, with 415 parking spaces for convenience.

We have delivered a number of development sites across the town in a JV with the Council, including the Curve, Slough Ice Arena, the Centre, the Moxy Hotel and over 500 new homes. We are now in a development partnership with Homes England following the latter’s purchase of the NWQ site from Slough Borough Council in 2023.

Chris Scott, Development Director at Muse, said:

The submission of this planning application is a significant milestone for North West Quadrant and for the economic transformation of Slough town centre. ”

“The project plays a key role in the town centre’s regeneration and supports Slough Borough Council’s long‑term vision for growth, alongside other key town centre development projects.”

Kate McBridge, Regional Executive Director at Homes England, said:

The submission of the North West Quadrant planning application marks a major step forward in unlocking one of Slough town centre’s most significant regeneration opportunities.”

“In partnership with Muse, we are bringing forward ambitious plans that will transform a long-vacant site into a vibrant, mixed-use neighbourhood that will deliver new homes, jobs and high-quality public spaces. This highlights Homes England’s commitment to work collaboratively with partners to create sustainable places that support economic growth and help communities thrive.”

Subject to planning approval, the site will be delivered in phases, with the first phase, across two plots, submitted in detail for 473 Build-to-Rent apartments and 325 Co-Living homes, plus approximately 800 sq m ground-floor commercial space (gym and café) and circa 240 sqm of retail.
