Muse helps make history at Solihull's first ever pride

We were proud to sponsor Solihull’s first ever Pride on the 6-7 September, as part of our commitment to supporting vibrant and diverse communities.

The two-day event featured a colourful parade, live music and street food, with the main stage located in Mell Square. Organised by Solihull BID, and supported by a range of businesses and organisations across the town, Pride welcomed thousands of residents and visitors.

The celebration of LGBTQ+ culture included tributes to Madonna, Elton John, and Cher – along with guest appearances from award-winning cabaret artist Fatt Butcher and celebrity hairdressers Royston Blythe and Nick Malenko.

During Pride, Mell Square also played host to a continental market, along with outdoor areas for eating, drinking, and socialising.

Working in partnership with Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, we’re curating a new Mell Square. It will be a neighbourhood with homes, independent shops, and welcoming public spaces.

With around 1,600 new homes, more families and young people will have the chance to live in the town centre, enhancing the town’s vibrant heart. We will encourage a new evening and night-time economy – prioritising experiences, alongside restaurants, bars, and places to meet. New green spaces will encourage people to meet and linger.

In the future, we hope there will be even more opportunities to host large-scale events which celebrate the culture, creativity, and diversity of Solihull.

Lisa Turley, Development Director at Muse, said:

Solihull Pride was a brilliant celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, but also reflected the vibrancy and energy of the town.”

“The costumes, colours, performances, food, and drink reflected the very best of Solihull. Mell Square was at the heart of the action and as our vision progresses, we want to host even more parades, festivals, and Pride events.”

“We’re proud to play our part in shaping a new heart for Solihull. One that celebrates inclusivity and brings the community together.”
