A neighbourhood setting new standards in regeneration
Stroudley Walk, a 274-home, 51% affordable neighbourhood in Bromley-by-Bow, has been shortlisted for four awards this year:
-Housebuilder Awards – Best Regeneration Initiative
-British Homes Awards – Regeneration Scheme of the Year
-Love to Rent Awards – Development of the Year
-Property Week Sustainable Real Estate Awards – Best Regeneration Initiative
It’s encouraging to see a neighbourhood that has brought much-needed affordable and accessible new homes, public spaces and opportunities to an area that had been waiting for regeneration for decades recognised across such a broad range of categories. Delivered in partnership with Poplar HARCA and the Greater London Authority, Stroudley Walk has transformed a long-derelict brownfield site in Bromley-by-Bow into a new 51% affordable neighbourhood with 274 homes.
Stroudley Walk is now a place where people can put down roots, build connections and enjoy new community and green spaces. It demonstrates what can be achieved when regeneration goes beyond delivering homes, to create a neighbourhood that supports a better quality of life for those who live there.
Across the four awards, Stroudley Walk is being recognised for:
Partnership and collaboration – delivered in partnership with Poplar HARCA and the Greater London Authority, Stroudley Walk overcame long-standing viability challenges and was shaped through extensive local engagement.
Homes that respond to local need – 115 affordable homes, including 33 Shared Ownership and 82 London Affordable Rent all of which are three- and four-bedroom family homes.
Community-led placemaking – a safe new public street connecting Bow Road and Bromley-by-Bow stations and a new community café, alongside specialist autism-friendly homes co-designed with residents.
Sustainability and biodiversity – a 14% reduction in regulated carbon emissions beyond the requirements of the Building Regulations and an increase in biodiversity value from 0.49 to 0.84.
